WHY LIFE CAN ONLY BE A DREAM WITHIN THE CREATOR What is the purpose of life… of creation? This creation came into being through the spontaneous desire of infinite consciousness to know itself. Since consciousness alone is the source substance of all existence, it is in truth the real Self of all. Life or creation is simply the self experiencing and self expression of this infinite Self to Itself within Itself... since It alone exists and appears as everything. In the east, mystics sum this up in Punjabi as "Raab Di Leela" (its all God’s play) and over the centuries have shared that in the beginning nothing existed except this infinite Self, with no second or separate reality. The essential key is that since the Self alone existed in the beginning… whatever It created… had to be created and placed within Itself… since It alone existed. Where else could creation be placed if the Self alone existed? In personal terms, if you alone existed, and nothing else existed… whatever you created would have to be placed within yourself. Again, where else could it be placed if you alone existed? So the Creator is everpresent within the whole of creation. The desire to experience and express arose as spontaneously as our dreams. Who intends to dream... yet it happens spontaneously each night because such is the nature of consciousness (the Self). However, experiences can only occur in duality... when there is a contrast between two contrary opposing points such as good and bad, happy and sad, hot and cold, rich and poor, etc. Such dualities must exist for the Infinite to experience through the contrasts between opposing points. From the absolute viewpoint since the Self alone exists as one indivisible consciousness, contrasts cannot really exist in that which is one homogenous source substance. So the Self simply imagines within Itself the contrasts necessary for experiences. Then entering the imagined creation, the infinite makes Itself forget It's true nature to increase the reality of the dream... because as in all games... the greater the virtual reality... the more stimulating the experience. It would diminish the game to know at all times that the whole of creation is unreal and that only the dreamer (the Self) is real. The Self being one can never be known by experience. To do so would be the same as attempts to look at your own face. And yet you can never look at your own face, because you can never separate and step away from what you already are... to look back at yourself. Even if you look in a thousand mirrors, you only see reflections of your face, and reflections are just that... they're never your real face. Since you cannot step away and separate from yourself to experience what you already are... to truly know yourself... you have to simply be quiet and realize your real Self. Similarly, to know of the existence of your face, one only needs to be quiet to be aware of it, because you can never separate and experience what you already are. As a result... the highest truths in life can never be experienced and must be realized within. Reflections of the Self are experienced since they appear within contrasts. And while reflections can be an aid, the underlying source substance can only be realized since that as the Self of all is everything. The cosmos is the Self appearing as diversity for the sake of experiences. Ultimately, all the various paths and disciplines leading to truth are simply the means... while realization of the Self alone is the end. At all times in all things... in the beginning, middle and end... the creator alone exists as the real Self of all. Ultimately, since the Self and Its creation can never be separate... the whole of creation can be summed up as: 1. The universe is not real (as
